Vanoise and valleys from the ends of the earth

It's in the middle of nowhere! A long valley narrowing to the Italian border on the eastern foothills of the Vanoise National Park. From the comfortable hotels in the valley, each day a new trail takes us to perched valleys, mountain lakes and balcony trails embracing the valley.
No stress during this tour... Hikes start from the hotel so it is possible to adapt the journey and even have a rest day to enjoy the cosy hotel. Local shuttles easily access mountains to discover the wild landscapes of a preserved territory.

THE PRICE

The price includes:

  • Organisation and booking fees, guiding by a qualified and insured mountain leader;
  • All meals including picnic lunch and snacks during the day;
  • 6 nights accommodation in hotels** and tourist taxes;
  • Luggage transport, bus transfers.

The price does not include:

  • Cancellation insurance (3.8% of the tour price);
  • Personal expenses (drinks, etc.), touristic visits;
  • Your return journey from home to the point of departure/end point;
  • Airport taxes;
  • Other exclusions clearly described within the corresponding technical sheet.

The price is all inclusive from departure to end point.

The route day to day...

Day 1

Meet at 6:00pm at Hotel La Turra in the centre of Termignon.
Program of the week with your guide. Night at the hotel.

Day 2

LANSERLIA PEAKS 
Departure from Termignon with a short bus transfer to the heart of the Vanoise National Park.
Hike to Lanserlia lake, a route that plunges us into the most secret atmosphere of the Vanoise. Return by bus to the hotel in the Haute-Maurienne valley.
4 hour walk / Elevation: +470m -400m

Day 3

CARRO REFUGE, MAURIENNE BALCONY TRAIL
Bus transfer to the departure point of the hike above Bonneval-sur-Arc on the road to the Iseran pass. Balcony trail up to the Carro refuge, picnic by the lakes near the Italian border and return to the hotel by the beautiful dry stone village named Ecot. Night at Bonneval-sur-Arc village.
4.5 hour walk / Elevation: +350m -750m

Day 4

CIRQUE OF EVETTES GLACIER
Climb the valley up to Reculaz waterfall. Lunch facing the classified site of the nearby Evettes Glacier near the summit of Albaron (3637m). On the way back the Evettes refuge welcomes us for a little afternoon coffee on the terrace! Descend via the balcony trail to Bonneval. Night in a hotel in the village.
5.5 hour walk / Elevation: +600m -800m

Day 5

MAURIENNE NORTHERN BALCONY
Departure for a beautiful balcony trail overlooking the Haute Maurienne valley and the sources of the river Arc. Stunning view over the ridges, Albaron, Bessanese, Arbéron and multiple glaciers forming the border with Italy. Descend to Bessans village, home of the legendary 4-horned devil!
5 hour walk / Elevation: +400m -800m

Day 6

LOMBARDE VALLEY, A STONES THROUGH FROM ITALY
Short transfer to Vincendières village. Departure for the small hamlet of Arvérole and a little bit higher the refuge. If the fitness level  of the group is good, hike under the imposing glaciers of the Lombarde valley. Bus transfer to go back to the hotel in Bessans.
5.5 hour walk / Elevation: +/-600m

Day 7

Breakfast at the hotel and bus transfer to Termignon.

End point around 9:30am at Termignon.

The trip

LEVEL **           

Elevation: +/-400m to 800m average per day.
Walking time: 4 - 5 hours average per day.
Type of trek: mountain route with no technical difficulty. The route can be modified depending on the fitness of the group and weather conditions.

GUIDING

Between 6 and 14 participants supervised by a qualified professional mountain leader.

TRANSFERS

Transfers during the hike are made on public buses and/or a minibus.

ACCOMMODATION

COMFORT: 6 nights in a 2-star hotel in twin/double bedroom (for individual registration people can be in a room of 3).
3 different hotels have been chosen for their charm, warm welcome, location and excellent cuisine. All accommodations offer hot showers.

Single room possible with extra cost.

MEALS

Breakfast and dinner are provided in each accommodation.
Picnics are included and are carefully prepared daily by your mountain leader, comprising a variety of a healthy salads and local products.

FITNESS LEVEL

A good general fitness level is required for this tour.
Advance preparation is nevertheless necessary in order to appreciate the beauty of this domaine. Your physical preparation will enable you to enjoy your trek to the maximum. We advise you to frequently walk, jog, cycle or any other cardio sport to prepare for this tour.

ACCESS TO DEPARTURE POINT

Meet Sunday at 6:00pm at Hotel La Turra in the centre of Termignon.

BY TRAIN
2019 timetable. Inbound: depart Gare de Lyon (Paris) at 10:41am arrive in Modane at 2:50pm. Then bus from Modane depart 3:15pm arrive Termignon 3:50pm.
Return bus: depart Termignon 9:30am arrive Modane 10:00am.
Return: depart Modane at 10:04am arrive in (Paris)​ Gare de Lyon at 3:15pm.

BY CAR
Take the A41 motorway to Chambery, then A43 to Modane. Follow direction Termignon.

BACKPACK

Bring a comfortable backpack of 30 to 40 litres for your personal belongings for the day (warm clothes, waterproofs, water, plate and cutlery for your picnic, sunscreen and your identity papers) and please keep a little room to carry a picnic and snacks.

BAGGAGE TRANSPORT

Your baggage will be transported between accommodation by our logistics vehicle. You are allowed 1 soft, sports type bag with all your possessions inside, no heavier than 10kg (for your own ease and comfort carrying your bag upstairs, we do not advise rigid suitcases, heavy or large baggage).
