Here we are in Switzerland to discover the Valais province famous for its many peaks over 4000m, including the very famous Matterhorn.
Starting at the heart of the Valais vineyards, exploring their amazing irrigation channels running between hills and valleys. The two first days are spent in a charming hotel to relax facing a magnificent Alpine panorama.
Next is the Val d'Anniviers, a traditional high valley at the foot of the "crown of 4000s". Quiet, clean air, breathtaking scenery... a pearl of the Swiss Alps.
Zermatt, the Swiss alpine capital, greets us in its green pasture of High Mountains. The Matterhorn, Monte Rosa, Castor and Pollux are the stars of our alpine getaway.

  • Access to termal baths in Anzère (25 Swiss Francs) ;
  • Airport taxes ;

The route day to day...

Day 1


Meet Sunday at 1:00pm at Sion train station
Welcome meeting by your guide. Departure around 1:30pm for Arbaz hamlet. Cross the hamlet, the path rises gently along the forest and little hamlets. Depending on the weather conditions, walk along the "Bisse de Clavau" through vineyards and dry stone walls. Arrival around 5pm at the hotel to enjoy the jacuzzi. Installation at the hotel facing the mountains of the Valais for two nights.
3 hour walk / Elevation: +320m

Day 2

Departure from the hotel to the Tzeuzier dam. In otpion, tour around the lake depending on the fitness level of the group. Going down by the amazing Bisse of Sion and Ayen (historic irrigation channel), where we can see the impressive path taken by these channels. Way back to the hotel for a sauna or a tour of the village wine cellars.
5 hour walk / Elevation: +400m -400m
1h30 walk/ Elevation: +/-150 m for the lake tour

Day 3

Minibus transfer to the Anniviers valley (45min). The walk starts from Lake Moiry with its deep green/blue colour. Cross between two glacier lakes and climb on the opposite, wild shore. In option, the Tsate pass is reachable 300m higher. The day continue in the pastures, under several summits at more than 3500m high. Way down to Grimentz along the Gougra river. Descent possible by bus from the dam to Grimentz. Installation at the hotel for two nights at Grimentz.
4.5 hour walk / Elevation: +300m -950m
2 hour walk / Elevation: +/- 320m

Day 4

Take the Bendolla cable car. Traverse under the Peak Lona to the wild high plateau of Lona and its mountain lakes. Optional climb to Sex de Marinda (2906m). Descend to the emerald Lake Moiry, whose beautiful colour comes from the serpentine rocks which surround it. Going back to the hotel.
5 hour walk / Elevation: +700m -550m (+/-100 m pour Marinda)

Day 5

Transfer to Taschalp (1h45 lift). Balcony trail overlooking the valley of Zermatt with as aim the Matterhorn and its giant glaciers. Descend through the pasture hamlets, to Zermatt. Night in a hotel in the center of Zermatt.
4 hour walk / Elevation: +250m -900m

Day 6

Take the Schwarzsee cablecar to 2583m. The path runs along the imposing northern face of the Matterhorn and joins the alpine villages... Go for a walk through the wooden village of Zmutt, and its beautiful dark wood barns scorched by the sun.
4.5 hour walk / Elevation: -850m (Schwarzsee)

End point around 3:00pm at Zermatt train station.  
A taxi transfer may be orgnaised by your mountain leader for those requiring transport from Zermatt to Sion (optional).

The trip


Elevation: +400 to 800m approximately per day.
Walking time: 3 to 5 hours per day.
Type of trek: mountain routes without technical difficulty, accessible to most healthy, active people. The walks along the irrigation channels are selected according to the group. Also, with good weather conditions some more challenging variants could be proposed.


Number in a group between 6 and 14 people supervised by a qualified professional mountain leader.


Each day, transfers to the departure point will be made with public transport or ski lifts.
Baggage transport between accommodation is provided by private taxi.

Breakfast and dinner are provided in each accommodation.
Picnics are included and are carefully prepared daily by your mountain leader, comprising a variety of healthy salads and local products.



Practical information


Meet Sunday at 1:00pm at Sion train station

Inbound: depart Gare de Lyon (Paris) at 8:02am arrive in Sion at 12:53pm.
Return: depart Zermatt at 3:39pm arrive in (Paris) Gare de Lyon at 10:49pm.

Take the A40 motorway towards Geneva, then direction Martigny/Sion (35€ for an obligatory road tax sticker for the Swiss motorway). Exit Sion Est
Meet at the CFF train station in the centre of Sion.
Parking possible in Sion. No free parking in Sion. Some free parking are possible along the railway, Rue Oscar-Bider / Sion / Valais or outside the town, to be organised with your mountain leader when you arrive.
Covered parking: Rue du Scex 12, Sion: 35 euros per day.

End point Saturday at 3:00pm at the train station in Zermatt. Regular train departures for Sion or a group taxi may be organised by prior arrangement during the week with your mountain leader.

If you chose to take out repatriation insurance with EUROP ASSISTANCE whom we propose, Altitude Mont Blanc will only serve as an intermediary between the client and the insurer. We cannot influence either party. We adhere to strict conditions of sale. You are responsible for compliance with the reporting procedures of any incident.

Bring a comfortable backpack of 30 to 40 litres for your personal belongings for the day (warm clothes, waterproofs, water, plate and cutlery for your picnic, sunscreen and your identity papers) and please keep a little room to carry a picnic and snacks.
