IGLOO BUILDING
Transfer to the departure point. Equipment checking and snowshoe to the lake of Plagnes in Abondance. About two hours climb to Lei where igloos will be built, at the pasture of Lens. Picnic lunch and igloo building with everyone's participation. Cheese fondue around the camp fire in the evening, and night in the igloo. Depending on snow conditions and in case of bad weather it is possible to shelter in a mountain chalet.
2.5 hour walk / Elevation: +350m
COL DE BASSACHAUX
Loop walk to the Col de Bassachaux with stunning views of the Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva with potential chamois and mouflon sightings. Return to the igloos around 1:30pm for a picnic and descend to Abondance around 4:30pm.
4.5 hour walk / Elevation: +350m -600m
End point around 4:30pm in Abondance.
Elevation: +/- 400m approximately per day.
Walking time: 2 to 4 hours per day.
Type of trek: this snowshoeing tour is not difficult but you need to be resistant to the cold.
Number in a group between 6 and 14 people supervised by a qualified professional mountain leader.
The area is limited in an igloo, it is essential to carry the strict minimum for your baggage.
To have in mind: the average temperature in an igloo is between 0°C et +5°C.
1 night only is spent in an igloo (or mountain chalet).
In case of bad weather, your guide may decide to accommodate the group in the mountain chalet.
Breakfast and cheese fondue around the camp fire in the snow or in a mountain chalet.
Picnics are included and are carefully prepared by your mountain leader.

Material for snowshoeing (snowshoes and poles) is provided. However, if you have your own equipment and would like to use it you are free to do so. Avalanche safety equipment including (transceiver, shovel and probe) is also provided along with a camping mattress for your night in the igloo.
