The itinerary day by day

Day 1

MOLINES-EN-QUEYRAS - COL DES PRÉS FROMAGE - SOMMET BUCHER - SAINT-VÉRAN
Meet at Montdauphin train station at 9am (in hiking gear). Transfer to the Queyras region in the Aigue valley, meet your guide, get your equipment and take your picnics for the day. Starting from the hamlet of La Rua, the objective is just above: Col des Près Fromage. In summer, this is a paradise for herds of cows enjoying the green grass of the larch undergrowth, but at this time of year, the immaculate whiteness of the landscape is a wonderful sight. You can take the alternative route to the Bucher summit, at the heart of Queyras, with its 360° panoramic view over the surrounding valleys and peaks. Descent to La Chalp. Then climb up to the village of Saint-Véran.
5.45 hour walk / Elevation : + 850m ;- 750m

Day 2

VISITE DE SAINT-VÉRAN - VALLÉE DE LA BLANCHE - REFUGE DE LA BLANCHE
In the early morning, prepare your backpack for 2 nights in the refuge. A 20-litre bag (provided by the organisation and suitable for transport by snowmobile) will be carried to the refuge so that you can make the most of the day. Later in the morning, a visit to Europe's highest village is a must! In the narrow streets, where the sun is already shining, you can admire the architectural features that these small mountain people built to survive the endless winters of the past. You then leave Saint-Véran and head up towards the Italian border, via the Chapelle de Clausis, a true ‘mountain lighthouse’ in this wide valley. This easy route will allow you to appreciate the beautiful natural heritage of the Queyras Natural Park. Check-in at "refuge de La Blanche" for two nights.
5 hour walk / Elevation : +550 m ; -100 m

Day 3

PANORAMIC BORDER CRESTS OVER ITALY
From the refuge, in the heart of the wide Blanche valley, there are many hiking options. Today's objective is to climb to the "Col de Saint Véran', 400 m higher up, to admire the panorama of this famous region of Piedmont, with Mont Viso as a backdrop. Then, a beautiful, wild descent through the Lac Blanchet valley. Tête des Toilies, an impressive peak overlooking the refuge, takes on a whole new look - it's truly enchanting! A pleasant descent to the refuge, where a cosy fire awaits you.
4.5 hour walk / Elevation : +500m ; -500 m

Day 4

REFUGE DE LA BLANCHE - COL DU LONGET - PONT DE LARIANE - PRATS-HAUTS
After a night at an altitude of over 2,500 m, off to the neighbouring Aigue Agnel valley. On the hillside, you'll reach the 'Col de Longet', nestling at the foot of the 'Pic de Chateaurenard', at an altitude of over 2700m. Take one last look over the 'Vallée de la Blanche' to reach the more Nordic atmosphere of the 'Vallon d'Agnel'. Transfer from the Ariane bridge to the lovely hamlet of Souliers.
5 hour walk / Elevation : +450m ; -800 m

Day 5

SOULIERS - COL TRONCHET - ARVIEUX
A quite different atmosphere in the western part of the Queyras. The village of Souliers is a true living museum, a hamlet where the pastoral tradition is still very much alive. The Humbert family, who populate a large part of Souliers, is a well-known figure in the Queyras. Take a stroll through the village, where the smell of the barns, mingled with the smell of the fireplace, will take you back to ancient times. Leaving Souliers, take the 'Col du Tronchet' over the Arvieux valley for a beautiful day in the forest.
5.5 hour walk / Elevation : +620m ;- 550 m

Day 6

CLAPEYTO MOUNTAIN CHALETS
The Clapeyto alpine pasture, nestling at the foot of the Izoard pass, is an enchanting place where calm rules supreme. In this quiet atmosphere, make your way through the small hamlets full of history. An experience not to be forgotten. Descend to Brunissard and then disperse.
5.5 hour walk / Elevation : +550m ; -550 m
