Enter the atmosphere of the Vercors massif during winter !

Every outdoor lover in France feels their heart beat when it comes to the Vercors mountains. A vast altitude plateau, the Vercors Massif offers a harmonious wilderness. From the impregnable fortress of the high plateau to the shredded peaks of the classified Jarjatte valley, the southern part of this mythical mountain range between the Drôme et Isère regions offers wild and authentic nature.

As the cold winds of winter start to blow, the snow offers a new dimension to this territory. The forest and the mountains become cloaked in stillness for the great pleasure of the contemplative hiker that crosses this frozen world where lynx and wolves prowl. Far from crowded ski resorts, snowshoes are the best way to discover this peaceful mountain range rich with amazing wildlife!

As a contrast with the rough winter conditions, you will stay in a warm and comfortable gîte, enjoying good cuisine and local products. The week will end beautifully with a night in a gorgeous castle-hotel under the famous Mont Aiguille!

You will like

  • The Vercors mountains are the perfect terrain for snowhoeing!
  • Wild routes along snowy ridges, through narrow gorges and deep forests
  • A chance to observe wildlife in their winter habitat
  • The variety of scenery, from the fortress of the Vercors to the Dolomite looking peaks of the Jarjatte valley
  • A warm and confortable gîte in Lus la Croix Haute

Snowshoeing in the Alps depends a lot on the weather and the snow conditions, especially considering the avalanche risk. This program can be changed during the week if the conditions demand it, for a matter of safety. The mountain leader makes the final decision about every hike and gives a briefing with the group every evening to present the next day's program.

Walking times and elevations given here are approximate, the guide will adjust the pace and the length of the hikes depending on the group.
