A majestic road trip with comfort hotel-style

There are mountains that overwhelm man, and others that invite him to tread more lightly. The Dolomites belong to the latter category. Born from an ancient ocean, they raise their pale cliffs, limestone towers and light-drenched high mountain pastures towards the sky.
Over seven days, this guided trek – designed as a ‘comfort hotel’ version – takes you through some of the massif’s most beautiful landscapes: the luminous peaks of the Cinque Torri, the pastoral paradise of the Fanes plateau, the suspended meadow of Prato Piazza, and the legendary silhouettes of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo…
Every evening, having access to your luggage allows you to enjoy the trek to the full without the burden of carrying it, and you’ll spend your nights in comfortable accommodation, chosen to offer rest and relaxation after a day’s exertion, at the time of the ‘enrosadira’, when the rock faces glow in the last rays of the sun and the Dolomites reveal their magnificent, accessible and deeply contemplative landscape.

Day-by-day itinerary

day 1

Meet at 09:00 at the Scuole bus stop, Via dei Campi, 82 – Cortina d’Ampezzo.

CINQUE TORRI
A gateway to the Dolomites via a visit to five stone sentinels towering above the mountain pastures: the Cinque Torri, which men have scaled for pleasure and fortified for war. The Italian trenches still lie dormant at their feet, intact beneath the grass. A beautiful circular walk around these timeless cathedrals facing the Tofane massif. A first day that sets the scene: limestone, history, silence.
Night in hotel.
4.5 hours of hike / Elevation : + 600 m - 600 m / 11 km

day 2

FANES PLATEAU
A beautiful, long walk eastwards, towards what the maps call Fanes and what legend calls a kingdom. A pass at 2,530 metres opens out onto a plateau with no visible boundaries, where the eye is lost for lack of landmarks. A rare, almost forgotten sensation of a land still untouched by conquest.
Overnight in a hostel, in a 4-person dormitory.
7.5 hours of hike / Elevation : +/- 1100 m / 18 km

day 3

SENNES PLATEAU
After Fanes comes Sennes, its silent counterpart with a legend no less colourful. An undulating plateau at over 2,000 metres, where short grass and limestone sinkholes create an almost lunar landscape. Crossing a high pass at nearly 2,400 metres, offering unobstructed views of the horizon, before a long descent into the valley, bringing the day to a close just as one closes a book that has been read too quickly.
Check-in at a hotel for a two-night stay.
7h00 of hike / Elevation : + 1000 m - 1050 m / 18 km

day 4

KLEINER ROSSKOPF
A short but steep loop, cutting vertically rather than horizontally, with a vertical ascent of nearly 1,100 metres over a distance of barely 10 km. The route climbs up the slopes of the Giavo Grande to the summit of the Kleiner Rosskopf, a breathtaking vantage point at 2,450 metres, from where the view stretches out to a boundless horizon. A short day, carved out of the slopes and repaid a hundredfold by the vistas.
Second night in a hotel in the Val di Braies.
6h00 de marche / Dénivelé : + 1000 m - 1050 m / 18 km

day 5

STRUDELKOPF - MISURINA
The Strudelkopf, whose very name evokes a whirlwind, marks the first ascent of the day, a vantage point at an altitude of over 2,000 metres from which one can already make out, in the distance, the waters of Lake Misurina. Then comes a long descent, almost two hours through limestone and larch forests, down to the shores of one of the most photographed lakes in the Dolomites. A transitional stage, where you leave one world behind for another, the gentler world of fir trees and reflections.
Check-in at a hotel for a two-night stay on the shores of the Misurina lake.
6.5 hours of hike / Elevation : + 750 m - 1000 m / 18 km

day 6

LAGO DI SORAPISS
One last day for one last gem of the Dolomites. Lake Sorapiss keeps its secret right to the very end: we climb, we wind our way round, we almost doubt it exists, then it appears at the very last moment, an improbable turquoise nestled amongst the grey cliffs, like a colour mismatch in a rocky landscape. The path winds along a ledge to a final pass before descending towards the ski lifts at Cortina d’Ampezzo, which carry us out of the clouds.
5h30 of hike / Elevation : + 800 - 800 m / 14 km

day 7

LES TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO
One last day for one last gem of the Dolomites. The subject of millions of photographs, the Tre Cime are no less impressive for it – proof that some places remain true to themselves despite their own image. This day belongs to them. We walk around them like monks circling a stupa: less to reach a destination than to honour a presence. Facing the Locatelli refuge, they are simply there, immense, indifferent to the admiration bestowed upon them.
Overnight in a hotel in Misurina.
5h00 of hike / Elevation : +/- 650 m / 14 km

End point at around 3.00 pm in the center of Cortina d'Ampezzo.
